Archives for the month of: May, 2011

The harvest season is about to start! Next Thursday, June 2, is our first distribution of 2011 and we’re celebrating a new year of fresh, local fruits and vegetables with an opening day picnic and party. Local musician Scott Sylvester will be playing his songs while you pick up your share. We hope you’ll stick around to hang out, eat and enjoy an evening with friends and neighbors.

Please bring a blanket and picnic dinner. This isn’t a potluck, so all you need is food for yourself and your crew. Farm Spot will provide drinks, cups, paper plates, napkins and plastic cutlery (feel free to bring your own utensils, cups, etc. if you’d like to cut down on the evening’s trash).

The party runs from 5:30 to 8:00, same hours as the distribution. Looking forward to seeing you there!
We welcome any other musicians who are interested in performing. E-mail us at farmspot@gmail.com if you are interested.

We’re using VolunteerSpot, an online sign-up and reminder tool, to schedule our distribution volunteer shifts.  Please sign up now — here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

Farm Spot is now accepting applications from two dedicated members to join our team. This is a rare opportunity to get your hands dirty and participate in this vital neighborhood organization.

Opening Distribution Supervisor
Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of opening distribution, including directing volunteers, supervising the unloading of the delivery truck, set up of tables, etc. This is a commitment for every Thursday of the Farm Spot 2011 summer season (June 2 – Dec. 1) from 5:00pm to 6:45pm. This has the potential of being a core group role. A full-season of work will be compensated by a free vegetable and fruit share.
